December 4th Webinar – Race-Based Data Collections: Lessons Learnt from TPS’s Five-Year Journey That Boards/Commissions Should Know. with Mihaela Dinca-Panaitescu and Reuben Straatsma Mihaela Dinca-Panaitescu is the lead of the Race and Identity-Based Data Collection (RBDC) Strategy with the Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights unit at Toronto Police Service. She has also developed the strategic framework for the Service’s first-ever Equity Strategy. She was previously Manager with Research, Public Policy and Evaluation unit at United Way Greater Toronto. In that position, she co-designed UW’s research agenda on income inequality and lead the evaluation of the Building Strong Neighbourhood Strategy. Miha is also a credentialed evaluator and published in the areas of disability rights monitoring, social determinants of health, income inequality, and evaluation of complex interventions.
Reuben Straatsma is a Senior Analyst working with the Analytics & Innovation unit and leads data analytics for the Race and Identity-Based Data Collection (RBDC) Strategy at the Toronto Police Service. With a background in crime analytics, geospatial data, predictive modeling, and data visualization, he leverages his extensive experience to drive innovation in law enforcement. He works to generate data-driven insights to inform strategic decision making, report on police-civilian interactions and enhance operational effectiveness.
